Sapient SNAP

Following my work on the Samsung B2B website redesign, I helped structure a small partnership between the Samsung SmartThings and B2B divisions. Our goal was to explore the applicability of Samsung hardware and engineering to alternative markets. This work developed into a lab where rotating teams of clients, designers and engineers experiment with emerging technologies and their potential connection to new business ventures and advocacy campaigns.

Our first project was a 3D-imaging prototype. We had 2 weeks and $500 to get it done.

This work was meant to be a lighthearted introduction to rapid prototyping at SapientNitro NY. I wanted to take my work with Samsung and prove that our designers and engineers could step outside their comfort zones and generate new business opportunities.

The proof-of-concept that emerged was a way of translating apparel inventories into virtual space. We created an imaging platform that scanned footwear collections and mapped everything from color palette to cultural associations. An in-app responsive graphic generated artistic output from the collections and revealed new ways of exploring personality in virtual space.
